ISOL'ution
The ISOL’ution project was launched in January 2022 to test the reuse of insulation materials in small scale renovation projects in Brussels.
The recovered insulation materials are sorted, stored and thermally tested before being reinstalled in homes undergoing renovation. The project evaluates both the technical feasibility of insulation reuse and the conditions required to scale up this practice within the renovation sector.
ISOL’ution was initially funded by Bruxelles Environnement under the RENOLAB.ID call. In its second phase, the project received support through the Circular Building Coalition 2025 Open Call, backed by the Laudes Foundation. The project is carried out in collaboration between La Rue asbl, the ATM department of the ULB, Casa Blanco and BatiTerre.

Videos
Two videos were produced as part of the ISOL’ution project to share the project’s experience and raise awareness about the reuse of insulation materials.
The first video, “ISOL’ution Using Reused Insulation”, presents the project as a whole. It explains the objectives, outlines the different stages of the reuse process, and highlights the role of the project partners. This video provides a concrete overview of how reused insulation can be integrated into renovation projects.
The second video, “ISOL’ution, lessons from the reuse of insulation”, takes a broader perspective. It reflects on the market potential of insulation reuse, drawing on the knowledge and experience developed throughout the project.
Renovation Reports
The ISOL’ution renovation reports are practical guidance documents based on the pilot projects. They provide technical advice, feedback from on-site experience, and concrete recommendations for integrating reused insulation materials into different types of renovation works.
Each report focuses on a specific building typology and insulation material. It outlines the conditions for reuse, the necessary precautions, and includes an in-depth analysis based on real-life examples from the project.
Chaque fiche aborde un typologie de bâtiment et/ou un type de matériau et met en avant les conditions de réutilisation, les précautions à prendre et et une analyse approfondie basée sur les exemples concrets issus du projet.
